Although bully breeds possess an impressive stature, with defined muscles and a strong build, they are in fact very sweet-hearted and have a soft temperament. They do well in family environments, thriving in homes with extra outdoor space.

1.) Rottweiler 

Rottweilers are large, powerful, and courageous dogs. They’re truly fearless, fully confident, territorial, and will exhibit unfaltering devotion to family.  

Rotties are very affectionate with their family but tend to be aggressive towards strangers. They’re reliable guard dogs and take pride in protecting their family. 

Rotties are intelligent and highly trainable. They have a pretty good memory and need mental stimulation to stay away from destructive activities. You must provide them with regular exercise and physical activities to stay healthy and happy. Training and early socialization are a must for Rotties.

2.) Boxer

Boxers are medium-sized dogs with short and tight-fitting coats. These upbeat and playful dogs have been among America’s most popular dog breeds for a quite long time. These powerful and high-energy dogs are square-jawed and muscular, with a powerful forward thrust.

Boxers are known for their great love of and loyalty to their families. If left alone for too long, they can become ill-tempered and destructive. These playful and high-energy dogs need ample exercise every day to ensure good behavior.

Boxers are intelligent, alert, and fearless, yet friendly. They tend to have a mind of their own and are terrific problem solvers. Being highly intelligent, they respond well to firm but fun training. They can become bored with repetition. Boxers’ short, shiny coats require very little grooming. However, their short coat doesn’t keep them warm in the winter.

3.) Pug

Pugs are ancient dogs that hail from China. These adorable dogs can be traced back some 2000 years to the Han dynasty. Chinese royalty and the emperors had a preference for Pugs. Also, Queen Victoria owned nearly 40 Pugs.

Pugs are charming and clownish dogs with a playful personality. They’re compact, mischievous, and bred to be lap dogs. They are smart but can be stubborn and willful which makes their training challenging.

Pugs thrive on human companionship and make great pets for families due to their loving nature. A well-trained and socialized Pug gets along well with other animals and kids.

4.) Great Dane

The Great Danes, often referred to as gentle giants or as the “Apollo of dogs” happens to be one of the largest breeds in the world. These sleek and elegant dogs have athletic, muscular bodies. Like many giant breeds, Great Danes are short-lived.

Great Danes are sweet, affectionate companions and are gentle with children. Despite having a gigantic body size, they’re still well suited for kids. 

Great Danes require daily exercise appropriate to their age. Being large and powerful, obedience training is a must for Great Danes. They are sociable, friendly, eager to please dogs, and respond well to training.

5.) Mastiff

Mastiffs are kind, loving, and gentle towards family members and do well in homes with or without kids. Mastiffs are intelligent and should be trained gently, but with determination. If Mastiff puppies are socialized properly, they make an outstanding family dogs.

Mastiffs are highly energetic dogs and need physical activity to keep them fit and away from destructive behavior. They are not suitable for apartment living because of their huge size.
